Thomas was not at practice on Wednesday, but reportedly returned the next day.
In the absence of Charles Clay, Thomas has two catches for 25 yards and a touchdown in two games.
Thomas, a quarterback at Virginia Tech, was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
He bounced around on different practice squads before being signed by the Buffalo Bills, and taking on a position change to tight end.
Our thoughts are with him, his wife and his four children.
