Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin is known as one of the highest-paid coaches in college football. $5 Million annually will do that for you. Sumlin is also known for his catchphrase "Yessir," frequently seen on his Twitter account when a big-name recruit commits to the Aggies.
According to USA Today, Sumlin trademarked "Yessir!" with a modified contract that allows a portion of Sumlin's salary be paid to his company #YESSIR!, LLC. Through the modified contract, Texas A&M receives the right to use both the coach's likeness and phrase through merchandising. It was through this partnership that Adidas, Texas A&M's athletic apparel provider, was able to use the trademark—and Sumlin—and their commercial.
So if you see officially licensed Texas A&M apparel that reads "Yessir!" in some form or fashion, thank Mr. Cool.
