For those with Friday night plans, you didn't miss much because No. 16 TCU blasted SMU 42-12 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. However, those who wanted to watch and waited through a lengthy rain delay got to see why KaVontae Turpin is one of the most dangerous all-purpose players in the country this season.
After a two-hour rain delay, with rain still coming down in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area and the Horned Frogs trailing 9-0 early on the road, the 5-foot-9, 160-pound speeder caught a punt, spun, juked, and dashed his way to the end zone for an impressive return.
The 78-yard punt return touchdown didn't just swing the game's momentum. It broke TCU's special team record as Turpin scored his fifth-career special teams touchdown.

What a fitting opponent to do it against considering TCU and SMU used to battle in the old Southwest Conference. It was his fourth-career punt return for a touchdown.

A Monroe, Louisiana native and former Neville High School star, Turpin scored a passing touchdown, rushing touchdown, receiving touchdown, kick return touchdown and punt return touchdown last season to earn First-Team AP All-Big 12 (All-Purpose) and First-Team All-Big 12 (KR/PR) honors.
Turpin did two of those Friday night in the 98th game in the Iron Skillet series between the two teams.
Early in the fourth quarter, TCU quarterback Shawn Robinson found Turpin for a 42-yard touchdown. He simply outran the entire SMU secondary to score.

Basically, at this point, all you need to do is put the ball in Turpin's hands and he will make something happen. He is that quick, that fast, that shift to change any game at any moment.
Turpin finished with 176 all-purpose yards, including four receptions for 64 yards, with two touchdowns. And if you didn't get to check him out on a rainy game that ended well after midnight local time, get ready for Turpin to put on a show against No. 4 Ohio State next weekend.
