Four-star CB Corione Harris stunningly signs with one of the lowliest programs in college football

When Corione Harris committed to join the Kansas Jayhawks back in February, few believed that the talented 2018 recruit would follow through with that pledge. It should be noted that the skepticism had nothing to do with Harris but, in short, rather that the Kansas program has not exactly been in play for top 100

When Corione Harris committed to join the Kansas Jayhawks back in February, few believed that the talented 2018 recruit would follow through with that pledge. It should be noted that the skepticism had nothing to do with Harris but, in short, rather that the Kansas program has not exactly been in play for top 100 recruits on the football field in recent years.

On Wednesday, though, Harris pulled a stunner and actually signed up to join the struggling program as by far its most attractive prospect in the 2018 class.

#Rivals100 New Orleans (La.) DB Corione Harris sticks with his commitment to Kansas and will sign with the Jayhawks

Harris is not a universal top-100 recruit but Rivals views him in that way and there is no way around the impressive nature of this recruiting win for Kansas. The Jayhawks finished with a dismal record last season and, well, beat a lot of impressive challengers in this particular race.

Harris is projected as an early graduate from Landry-Walker High School in New Orleans and, as such, he looks to be an early enrollee in Lawrence. By the 247Sports composite, he ranks as the No. 266 player nationally but that distinction comes with a four-star rating and Kansas has a player to build around in the near future.

It remains to be seen as to what kind of college player Corione Harris will be but this is a surprising and, in some ways, admirable decision.
