Seattle Seahawks stud Kam Chancellor, who his own coach believed might not make it back, reportedly intends to play in 2018.
Chancellor suffered a nerve injury to his neck November. Shortly after, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said, "Cliff and Kam are going to have a hard time playing football again."
For the sake of cleanliness, Cliff is defensive standout Cliff Avril, who had a disc-related surgery also in November.
Now, however, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Chancellor intends to play during the 2018 season with the important caveat of the player needing to be medically cleared in order for that to happen.
Getting medically cleared will probably be a relatively huge hurdle for Chancellor to overcome. He can want to play all he wants, but unless a doctor gives him permission, he won't be able to return to the gridiron.
Chancellor had his $6.8 million salary for 2018 become guaranteed last week. That's the for sure good news in this cloud of otherwise gloom and doom, with only sprinkles of optimism coming from the sky.
The Seahawks missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011 this past season. It will be interesting to see how Seattle attempts to overhaul its roster before the start of next season. Even if Chancellor does get medically cleared, the franchise might want to move on.
