Former No. 1 ranked WR prospect arrested on felony charge

USC Trojans wide receiver Joseph Lewis, the former No. 1 ranked prospect at his position in 2017, has been arrested. According to reports, he is being charged with felony domestic violence. Lewis, 18, was booked at 7:45 p.m. ET on Monday night. Bail was set at $50,000. Lewis would later be released at 3:59 a.m.

Lewis, 18, was booked at 7:45 p.m. ET on Monday night. Bail was set at $50,000. Lewis would later be released at 3:59 a.m. ET on Tuesday.

The school is aware of the situation is taking it seriously.

"USC takes all reports of domestic abuse seriously and is cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation," USC said in a statement. "While this student code of conduct issue is being investigated, the student has been suspended from all football-related activities. Student disciplinary records and student conduct proceedings are confidential at USC and protected by law."

The police department is currently investigating the situation. While the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office in the next two days, according to LAPD officer Mike Lopez, the department doesn't plan on making any of the details public.

A Los Angeles native, Lewis was ESPN's No. 1 receiver prospect for the class of 2017. Moreover, he was ranked as the 16th best from an overall standpoint.

As a freshman, he caught four passes for 39 yards.
