The thoughts and prayers of the entire Hurricanes organization are with Jordan and Heather Staal on the loss of their infant daughter, Hannah. We ask that you please respect their family's privacy at this time.
According to ESPN, Hannah passed away on Saturday. Staal had missed Carolina's last two games for "family and personal reasons". It is currently unknown how much time Staal may miss after the death of his daughter.
Staal is an 11-year NHL veteran who has played with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes. Staal's three brothers — Eric, Marc, and Jared — have also all played hockey in the NHL.
We send our thoughts and prayers to Staal and his family.
