8-Year-Old's Diving Double Play Made Him a National Sensation ·

It all started with a tweet.

Derrick O'Hara created a Twitter account on social media and made his very first post, which included a video of his 8-year-old kid's incredible diving play. He tagged the El Paso Chihuahuas, a minor league affiliate team of the San Diego Padres, and the rest was history.

When Jordan O'Hara was abruptly awoken from his sleep by his parents, he was on national TV.

Speedy 8-year-old Jordan O'Hara was playing in the El Paso 7U championship game in Texas. His team led 4-3 in the last inning with one out and a runner on second base.

Jordan was playing first base when a ground ball bounced his way. He bobbled it, still found time to rush over to first base for the out. Then, he had the presence of mind to sprint home and tag the runner coming home in diving fashion just before he slid into the plate.

GAME OVER!

This little speedster gave that runner a good six or seven steps and STILL tagged him out. Maybe that third base coach is kicking himself for sending the runner.

"Technically, I got the ball on first base, it went past me a little," Jordan told the El Paso Times. "I got it and I was going to dive to first, but I saw I didn't have to. I stepped on it. Then I saw the runner going to score. Technically I ran to him and I got him."

Technically, you're a pretty talented ballplayer, kid.

Jordan's dad posted the video to social media and got the attention of ESPN, who made it the No. 1 play on SportsCenter's Top 10 that night. Jordan beat out Minnesota Twins infielder Andrelton Simmons and numerous College World Series baseball players.
