During a punt return in the first quarter, Florida State defensive back Lamarcus Brutus was flagged for targeting. On the play, Brutus was seen clearly lowering his shoulder into USF's Lamar Robbins. Brutus made clear helmet-to-helmet contact. The play was reviewed, and the targeting call was upheld. Brutus was subsequently ejected.
