Florida is in the process of looking for a new head coach, and a handful of coaches have been rumored and linked to the opening.

Scott Frost, Dan Mullen and Charlie Strong have been commonly linked to the job, but a "reliable" Rivals insider posted something on a Rivals message board claiming that the Gators are close to a deal with Chip Kelly.

The report claims that an ex-AD — presumably former Florida AD Jeremy Foley — wants Charlie Strong instead of Kelly. A Florida fan tweeted an anti-Foley message and tagged current AD Scott Stricklin in the tweet.

Foley shut th hell up and go eat some PB&J with your buddy. @ScottStricklin Get a Chip to the Swamp.

Stricklin responded and said the rumors were a "a whole other level of bad info."

There is a lot of bad (i.e. incorrect) info out there, but this is a whole other level of bad info.

Another source reported that Florida is interested in Kelly as well.

Confirmed that UF is looking at Chip Kelly as next head coach. Decision could be as soon as this week. Also heard that Florida was becoming very frustrated with Jimmy Sexton, who represents many other potential candidates. Chip is represented by David Dunn.

For now, this is all speculation. It's likely the Gators will wait until the regular season is over so they can conduct interviews for the opening before they make a big decision.

They could already interview Kelly now since he isn't coaching anywhere, but coaches like Frost, Strong and Mullen have a couple of weeks left in their seasons.

Kelly could indeed be the guy, but for now it's simply speculation.
