Jalen Mayden is one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the country when it comes to the 2018 recruiting class. The 6'2", 214-pound rising senior from Sachse High School (Tex.) ranks as the No. 8 overall quarterback in the class according to ESPN and, as a result, Mayden is highly coveted by a number of programs across the country.
On Tuesday, Mayden elected to release some updated information on his recruiting process and it came in the form of a top five list at the moment.

Baylor, Louisville, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Tennessee (in alphabetical order) are the programs that are in the mix for Mayden and that is interesting on a number of levels. Only Baylor operates within Texas, where Mayden is from, but each would present an interesting opportunity for a player with a dual-threat skill set like Mayden.
It is fair to point out that not everyone is sold on Mayden's talents, as ESPN is by far the highest service when evaluating him as a top-200 overall prospect. Still, it is very clear from his make-up and production at the high school level that Mayden could be a fast-rising prospect in the coming days. Should he receive more intriguing offers that aren't currently present, we could see a shift or replacement in his top five but, for now, these five programs will be battling for a potentially impactful player.
