We are only a day and a half into the college football offseason, and there are already some early, early Heisman odds that have been released. USA Today handicapper and sports analyst Danny Sheridan released odds on Tuesday evening. According to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, Sheridan lists LSU running back Leonard Fournette, who was the Heisman favorite essentially all season before the Alabama game in November, as the favorite with 2-to-1 odds, Behind him are a couple of Heisman finalits — Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey. Watson made FBS history on Monday night as the only quarterback in history to get 478 total yards of offense in a national title game in the 45-40 loss to the Crimson Tide.
Rounding out Sheridan's list of Heisman odds include Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield along with Notre Dame QB Malik Zaire at 8-to-1. OSU quarterback J.T. Barrett (yes, he still has eligibility) is at 10-to-1 along with Florida State running back Dalvin Cook.
It's obviously way early into the offseason to read much into these, but given how these guys performed at the end of the season, the list of odds is pretty spot on.
