Dalvin Cook breaks ACC record after Orange Bowl performance

Dalvin Cook was a big reason the Florida State Seminoles were able to pull out a 33-32 win over the Michigan Wolverines in the Orange Bowl this season. He had 145 rushing yards on 20 rushing attempts and added another 62 yards in the air on three catches.

With that rushing performance, Cook surpassed former UNC running back Giovani Bernard's rushing average per game. Bernard averaged 107.9 yards per game, but Cook easily beat that with his a 117.47 rushing yards in his 38 games. In 22 of those games, Cook went over 100 yards rushing.

He already had the FSU record for most career and single season rushing yards and is the only tailback in ACC history to surpass the 1,600-yard rushing mark in two seasons. Despite leaving a year early, Cook is still less than 200 yards shy of owning the career rushing record for the conference. That distinction belongs to former N.C. State running back Ted brown who compiled 4,602 yards —— Cook has 4,464.
