Five-star small forward Brian Bowen was reportedly involved in the FBI probe that has shaken the college basketball world to its core. It's one of the major reasons that former Louisville head coach Rick Pitino was ousted. However, it looks like he has been cleared by the FBI as his lawyer told ESPN.
Bowen was initially suspended by the school that there wouldn't be any eligibility issues and so they wouldn't have to potentially forfeit any games. Now Louisville can end up reinstating him by the time the season starts in the next week after they conduct their own internal investigation.
Federal documents allege that Adidas funneled $100,000 to a recruit later identified as Bowen to sign with Louisville, at the request of a Cardinals coach. Bowen's lawyer has maintained his client was not privy to the bribe, which allegedly went to his father.
Bowen was a five-star recruit in the class of 2017 and was ranked as the No. 14 recruit overall and No. 3 player at his position according to ESPN.
