After getting swept out of the NBA playoffs, Paul George is weighing his options on his future. If he doesn't sign an extension with the Indiana Pacers this summer, his team could opt to trade him before he hits free agency next summer.
If that happens, Yahoo Sports! NBA insider Bobby Marks detailed an offer that could land George in Boston without giving up this year's No. 1 overall pick or next year's Brooklyn Nets selection:
"You've got the pieces to make the deal if George isn't going to sign long-term there or finish his career with the Pacers. And I'm not talking about the Brooklyn pick this year or even the 2018 Nets pick. When you look at a player like Jae Crowder, I think he is expendable the way Jalen Brown played. I think Terry Rozier is expendable. You look at Tyler Zeller who has a non-guaranteed contract for next year. And that matches up. For the gravy on top, you throw that (2019) Memphis pick on there. And I think you can get a deal done there."
If George made an All-NBA team, he could have inked a five-year, $207 million deal. This means he isn't eligible for about a $70 million pay raise from what they can currently offer him now.
With some cap creativity, Boston could swing signing free agent swingman Gordon Hayward AND trade for George.
It could be a blockbuster summer indeed.
