Well, this is something. On Tuesday, the folks at Athlon Sports released who they think should be on upset alert each week inside the ACC conference. Florida State was included, of course, but the games that they chose were quite interesting to say the least. Athlon predicts upset alerts for Florida State's game against Miami on Oct. 8, and the one that's even more random is FSU's game against Louisville. They credit Louisville chances with their "NFL-caliber" defense, paired with the performance of quarterback Lamar Jackson. Below is an excerpt from putting the Miami game on the list.
"This is still a major event in Florida simply due to the amount of crossover in recruiting between the two programs, but Miami's impact in the ACC has been underwhelming. However, the Hurricanes come into this season with renewed hope due to new head coach Mark Richt, and last year's game wasn't exactly a blowout. A Miami win in Coral Gables would send its fans into hysteria."
Miami hasn't been able to beat FSU for the last four seasons, and for Richt to be able to pull that one off in his Year One would be quite the accomplishment. The Louisvillle prediction is a little bit of a stretch, especially given that this game will be in Tallahassee this year. See Athlon's ACC upset alert full story by clicking here.
