All aboard the hype train!
247Sports polled some AP voters for a way-too-early 2017 set of rankings, and there is an immediate surprise in the Top 5 at the poll: USC at No. 2.... and that's not all.
Of the 23 voters that 247Sports polled, five of them actually gave USC first-place votes. Alabama received 14 of the first-place votes, while No. 3 Florida State received the remaining four. Even with an Alabama loss to Clemson in the national title game, it is surprising to see other teams with first-place votes considering the talent that the Crimson Tide bring back.
Closing out the Top 5 are a set of Big Ten teams: Ohio State and Penn State. Oklahoma ranks in at No. 6 as the Big 12's highest-ranked team in the poll. The full Top 25 can be seen at 247Sports' website here.
