While many people are gearing up to watch the SAG Awards tonight on TBS, they probably didn’t realize that another awards show took place last night. The PGA awards, or Producers Guild of America awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. It was the 28th year of the event. Award show circuit mainstays included Game of Thrones, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Atlanta to win in the TV categories, while La La Land, Fences and Hidden Figures dominated in the movie category.
But the show took on somewhat of a different tone last night. It was mostly a sounding board for actors, producers, and directors to take shots at President Donald Trump’s latest immigration ban policy that was put into effect not even 48 hours ago. With regard to the SAG awards tonight you can probably expect more of the same, especially when the Hollywood elite have a couple of cocktails in their system, which is what the SAG awards is known for (being a lax, casual event).
However, these awards could very well be an indication of who is going to take home some Oscars this year in addition to potential SAG winners that will be announced tonight.
