The Atlanta Falcons may be coming off the most-painful Super Bowl loss of all-time, but the team has rebounded by putting together a very solid offseason heading into the NFL Draft.
After flirting with the idea of signing former Kansas City Chiefs' defensive tackle Dontari Poe, the Falcons made the signing official by locking up Poe to a one-year deal worth $8 million.
Via CBS Sports:
"Poe, who visited the Dolphins on Wednesday, will make $8 million in 2017, which is twice what Miami wanted to pay him, according to the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley."
Falcons' head coach Dan Quinn hasn't been shy about how much he likes Poe as a player, so it's not a huge surprise to see the team ultimately pay Poe to come to Atlanta. Scott Pioli, the Falcons assistant general manager, drafted Poe when Pioli was the general manager for the Chiefs in 2012.
The Falcons defense made strides in 2016-17, but adding a player like Poe to the defensive line on a one-year deal makes a lot of sense for this team.
Poe may be known for being a disruptive defensive tackle, but he's also shown he is a little more versatile than you may think.
