Tony Romo's return from injury may have just hit a snag.

The Cowboys quarterback was initially predicted to return to the lineup around Week 8, following the team's bye week. But according to reports Romo's now not even expected to be back by Week 9.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports writes that Romo has made significant progress, but still hasn't been cleared to fully participate in practice. He writes:

"While Tony Romo has made considerable progress in his return from a preseason back injury, he has yet to be cleared to practice fully and could require another MRI to do so, according to sources. To this point his MRIs have pointed to on-target healing, but given Romo's prolonged absence, more time will be required."

Prescott's play, La Canfora added, has allowed the Cowboys to take every precaution with Romo's return, which would have likely been expedited if Prescott hadn't exceeded expectations and left the team floundering. Before long, team owner Jerry Jones will have a decision to make. As for now, the Cowboys can keep riding the red-hot Prescott.
