Beamer was Georgia's special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. To the casual observer, he is likely more famous as being the son of Virginia Tech legend Frank Beamer.

As Low mentions in his tweet, Beamer will become Oklahoma's assistant head coach for the offense and will help Lincoln Riley prepare the weekly offensive game plan.

Beamer spent the last two seasons with Georgia. He has also coached at Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

The new OU assistant was earning $300,000 annually at Georgia. His father Frank Beamer, the longtime head coach at Virginia Tech, was elected to this year's College Football Hall of Fame class.

At Georgia, Beamer's Bulldogs beat the Sooners 54-48 in overtime of the Rose Bowl to advance to the national championship game. It appears that showing may have impressed Oklahoma enough that the program wanted to give Beamer a gig.

At the time of this writing, no official announcement has been made by either Georgia or Oklahoma.

Considering the Beamer family is known for their special teams excellence, it will be interesting to see if OU finds him an extra role helping out in that department.
