Life sentence has been handed down in the death of an NFL starters brother

The story of Broderick Taylor is a sad one, but ultimately, the fallen 17-year old has found justice.

Kristen Fiscus of The Anniston Star is reporting that the Alabama man who shot and killed Taylor in 2015, Jerald Bailey, has been found guilty of manslaughter. Fiscus' reporting was passed on by Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times because the story has a strong connection to Tampa Bay, and specifically, the Buccaneers.

Taylor was the younger brother of Buccaneers star linebacker Kwon Alexander. If you'll remember, Alexander played just two days after his brother's death, helping lead Tampa Bay to an overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons by way of an interception, a forced and recovered a fumble, and 11 tackles.

It was an incredible game by Alexander, who wrote about the contest as well as his little brother later on for The Players Tribune. He said he felt his brother there while he was playing, and of course, he wished Broderick would have been there to see his stellar game:

I had those two turnovers, plus a pass-breakup and 11 tackles, which at the time was the most I'd ever had in a single NFL game. It was enough to help lead my team to a 23-20 overtime win in a divisional game. I was even named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Everything about that game was special.

I just wish Lil' Brod could have been there to see it. He would have been turnt.

Auman passes on that Bailey was given the maximum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole. He was found guilty of manslaughter, a lesser charge than murder, but was still given the harsh sentence by a circuit county judge.
