Clemson defensive end Richard Yeargin suffered a serious neck injury —- similar to the one Mike Williams endured in 2015 —- in a car wreck. It has been confirmed now that he will miss the entire season because of the injury.

The 6'5", 260-pound Yeargin was expected to start or at least compete for a starting spot this season after being one of the better backups for Clemson last season. He recorded 189 defensive snaps to go with 14 total tackles and four of those for loss in 12 games last season.
Coach Dabo Swinney spoke on the injury and did give some good news on it.
"The good news is that [Yeargin] will be fine long term," Swinney said in a statement released by the school. "But he will miss the season as he recovers."
It's certainly better to be safe than sorry and if Yeargin needs to he could end up applying for a hardship waiver to give him a sixth year since his redshirt season was already used.
