
Former NFL player Quanterus Smith, 27, and his apparent accomplice, 22-year-old Brandon Byse, were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of an AT&T store, according to the AJC.
Smith and Byse allegedly demanded money and took iPhones from the store when two sheriff's officials tried to pull them over. They drove away, according to the report. The officials pursued them, with the chase ending as the car drove off the road and into a tree.
Smith played college football at Western Kentucky before landing with the Denver Broncos in 2014. He spent just one season with Denver, suiting up for 15 games. He was a free agent at the time of his arrest
Smith, who was driving, was charged with armed robbery, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, misdemeanor theft by receiving and possession of a handgun while committing a felony, according to the report. Byse was charged with armed robbery.
