At first, nobody really thought Ole Miss was going to win Wednesday night. Not against Tennessee, which hasn't exactly had the greatest fortune as of late. There was a chance, however, and then all hell broke out at The Pavilion when it didn't happen.
Here's what you need to know: Tennessee Volunteers star forward Grant Williams scored a go-ahead basket with 4.3 seconds remaining. Ole Miss Rebels guard Devontae Shuler then took the ball across half court, elected not to call a timeout, and ran into Vols forward Admiral Schofield. Instead of getting a foul called on the deep 3-pointer, Shuler was whistled for the offensive foul. That was the end of the game in Oxford, Mississippi.
Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis was irate, understandably so, and so he ripped off and threw his sport coat in disgust.
Seriously, the final seconds and final moments turned out to be a bizarre sequence.

If that would have been it, all would be fine. Sure, it would suck for the Rebels, but life goes on. However, things escalated quickly.
Once the final buzzer sounded in Tennessee's 73-71 road victory, Ole Miss fans inside the arena began to throw trash onto the court.
There were water bottles, souvenir cups, pom poms, everything being hurled onto the hardwood.

What a weird way to protest, but college kids will be college kids.
Thankfully, head coach Kermit Davis got on the public address announcer's microphone to tell the crowd of Rebels fans, "don't throw anything on the court."
The trash throwing will most certainly steal the headlines, but the SEC college basketball game was pretty entertaining.
Williams, the hero of the night, led Tennessee with 21 points and six rebounds, while Lamonte Turner added 17 and Schofield chipped in 11 with the game-sealing charge.
For Ole Miss, Terence Davis and Breein Tyree each poured in 16 points, Blake Hinson posted 14, and big man Bruce Stevens registered a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
It's a shame all of that gets dismissed for a bunch of Ole Miss fans throwing trash, but at least you didn't have to clean up the mess.
