Probably wasn't the best time for Nebraska head coach Mike Riley to receive a contract extension.
Just a week after losing to Oregon, Nebraska lost on Saturday 21-17 to Northern Illinois of the MAC. That second loss comes after Nebraska gave Riley a contract extension in the middle of the week.
That's Nebraska's first loss to a MAC team EVER

NIU’s win at Nebraska is the MAC’s 9th victory vs. B1G since 2014

Things were bad from the start for Nebraska, as quarterback Tanner Lee threw two pick-sixes in the first half to give NIU a 14-0 lead at halftime. The defense was actually rather consistent for Nebraska, but they couldn't get any help from their offense.
To close the game, Lee threw his third pick of the game on a fourth down try to seal the deal for NIU.
Safe to say that things aren't going well in Lincoln after things started to look promising last season under Riley. Maybe time to give Bo Pelini a call?
