It takes time to build a special college football program, but Texas A&M Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher is well on his way. He's finally starting to build his own roster in College Station and this upcoming season looks promising. Unfortunately, the program has potentially lost a key player to make a run in the SEC.
Texas A&M safety Leon O'Neal Jr. has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. He was the starting safety for eight regular season games last season, and he loves the Aggies, but it looks like his time donning the maroon and white are over.
O'Neal, who just finished his sophomore season, announced his decision on social media.

A former four-star recruit out of Cypress Springs High School in Cypress, Texas, according to 247Sports, Leon O'Neal was a key part to Jimbo Fisher's first recruiting class and has played in every game since he arrived on campus.
O'Neal played in all 13 games as a true freshman, primarily on special teams, and saw action in the secondary for all 13 games as a sophomore. He recorded 39 tackles, including three tackles for loss, with an interception and three pass breakups last season.
For whatever reason, though, O'Neal, who had big games against Clemson, LSU, and Georgia, and an interception against Texas State, is possibly looking for a fresh start.

Putting his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal doesn't mean O'Neal can't come back, but another solid recruiting class for Jimbo Fisher could help fill the void if he decides to leave for good.
