Clemson fans have been going through one of the most stressful summers in recent memory as they are preparing for life without Deshaun Watson. The Tigers have been trying to find their next quarterback and it looks like they officially have an answer in junior Kelly Bryant.
"He has earned it and I am proud of him. It has been a great competition, but this part is over," Swinney said in quotes distributed by the team. "[Redshirt freshman] Zerrick Cooper is the number-two quarterback, but [freshman] Hunter Johnson is right there. We hope to get all three quarterbacks experience in the first part of the season."
Bryant has appeared in 12 games and has taken exactly 100 snaps. In that time, he has completed 13-of-18 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown while also adding 35 carries for 178 yards and another three scores.
Watson was a Heisman finalist and one of the most prolific passers in Clemson and ACC history so replacing him is certainly no small task. Bryant has had the opportunity to learn behind him though so Tigers fans are undoubtedly hoping some of his greatness rubbed off on the junior.
