According to the release, Butler was evaluated by Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Diane Dahm at the Mayo Clinic and further updates on his status will be issued as they become available. The team did not provide a timetable of how much time he would miss because of the injury.
The former All-Star left Friday's 120-102 loss to the Houston Rockets and was unable to put weight on his right leg while being helped off the court.
Butler was averaging 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 56 appearances during the 2017-18 season.
