According to FOX 4 out of Dallas, a Texas high school football player passed away following a junior varsity game last week.

15-year-old Mansfield High School student and offensive lineman John Moran was taken to a hospital following the game after complaining of abdominal pain. Moran later died, with a ruptured spleen being suspected as the cause of death.

FOX 4 reports that the injury did not come from game play, and that it instead came after "playfully sparring" with a teammate. Following his death, the Manfield varsity team played the following night with "RIP John" written on all players' wrist tape.

Police are reportedly treating the death as an accident.
