Hey, Bears Fans: Heres Your Chance to Outshine Cody Parkey and Probably Fail

A few days ago, the name Cody Parkey had very little fanfare with casual football followers. Chicago Bears fans certainly knew all about him before, but not like this. A few days ago, the name Cody Parkey had very little fanfare with casual football followers. Chicago Bears fans certainly knew all about him before, but not like this. The entire world got a crash course about the Windy City's biggest enemy for all of the wrong reasons, and now one local business is out to protect the kicker's honor.

Everyone knows what happened Sunday night. Parkey lined up for a game-winning 43-yard field goal, the ball got tipped, it ricocheted off the left upright and crossbar, and a miss meant the Bears' great season was over with a 16-15 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card round at Soldier Field.

In the aftermath of the miss, the former Auburn Tigers kicker and undrafted free agent in 2014 was booed going off the field, and even received death threats from social media tough guys.

So in honor of a lot of armchair kickers blasting Parkey for missing a long field goal that NFL officials have now confirmed was blocked, Goose Island Beer Company is hosting a "Field Goal Challenge" for fans who think they can outshine an NFL kicker.

A lot of armchair kickers on here are saying that they could hit that field goal, which we find DOUBTFUL. You’re gonna sit there on your throne of potato chips and vape pens and criticize this dude’s athleticism? GET REAL. 2/5

This weekend during normal taproom hours we’ll have a chance for you to show off your kicking skills. Hit the 43 yard field goal and you’ll win beer for a year and eternal glory. More info coming soon. 4/5

That's right, Goose Island is building a goal post outside of its brewery, and if someone can make the 43-yard field goal attempt, they will win free beer for a year with a side of eternal glory.

There won't be 61,500 fans screaming or a massive NFL defense charging after you at the end of a playoff game, but hey, here's the opportunity to show how much better your kicking skills are compared to Bears kicker Cody Parkey.
