There has been real buzz surrounding the possibility that the Seattle Seahawks could part ways with All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman before the start of the 2017 season. Because Sherman is an elite player, the Seahawks could theoretically command a king's ransom in trade but, before that transpires, the Seahawks must admit to themselves and the NFL world that Sherman is actually on the market.
Sheil Kapadia of ESPN brings word from Seahawks GM John Schneider that the doors are open, as Schneider told the "Brock and Salk" show on 710 ESPN in Seattle the following about Sherman rumors:
"What you've seen lately in the news is real. That's on both sides. It's just open communication. He knows what's going on. We know what's going on.

"I don't know if anything would ever happen. But like I tell people all the time, 98 percent of the things we're involved with, we don't follow through with. But at least we've opened that door, gone down the road and seen what's behind door A or door B."
Sherman's explosive personality is well documented but his play on the field has been crucial in Seattle's ascent as a franchise in recent years. That combination makes this an extremely intriguing situation to monitor moving forward but it would no longer be a surprise if Sherman was shipped elsewhere.
That doesn't mean it will happen but fans of the Seahawks and Sherman might want to start preparing for a world in which the marriage breaks up.
