Four-star DB Jhavonte Dean announces decommit from Alabama

No program in college football is better suited to withstand a high-profile decommitment than the Alabama Crimson Tide. After an announcement on Saturday, Nick Saban and company will put that theory to the test, as junior college cornerback Jhavonte Dean took to Twitter to proclaim that he won't be showing up in Tuscaloosa.

Dean ranks as the No. 2 junior college cornerback in the country according to 247Sports and that also comes with a place among the top 15 junior college prospects nationally. With that, he is ranked as a four-star prospect and the 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback from Blinn College will be hitting the open market with a great deal of interest elsewhere.

Players who are, at any point, committed to Alabama are usually in high demand, and Dean reportedly holds offers from Florida, Miami and Arizona State, among others. His commitment to the Crimson Tide lasted nearly six months, but with only a short time before signing day, Dean's recruitment will be one to closely monitor in the coming days.

Alabama still holds the nation's top recruiting class according to most pundits and, in comparison, this is a relatively small defection. Still, Saban and his staff now have another scholarship to work with and that makes them even more dangerous on the trail.
