Jake Coker, the quarterback who lead Alabama to the 2015 national championship, has announced he's retiring from football.

Coker made the announcement Thursday during a radio interview on WNSP 105.5 FM that was reported by AL.com. Coker said:

"I'm just going to move on. I had another surgery when I was with the (Arizona) Cardinals, and that was kind of the last thing. I didn't want another surgery. I'm just kind of ready to move on. I'm excited about what's ahead."

Coker signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He hurt his knee in the preseason and was waived in August.

Coker lead Alabama to a 14-1 record and a 45-10 national championship win over Clemson. He threw for 3,110 yards, 21 TDs and eight INTs.

He said, in his interview, he's taking a job with Cooper Marine and Timberlands, an Alabama-based company that provides timber products to numerous businesses.
