Auburn's 247Sports site is reporting that Barrett is likely to go the JUCO route this semester so that he can basically stay warm while he waits on another Division-I opportunity for the 2018 season. Barrett's development has been slow while on campus. It probably didn't help that he injured his ankle shortly after arriving on campus and missed several practices in August during his redshirt freshman season.
Barrett was deep down on the depth chart for those reasons and was overtaken by freshman Malik Willis already, which meant he was the fourth QB on the roster. He was rated the nation's No. 6 dual-threat quarterback, according to the 247Sports Composite.
