ESPN says these are the most overrated teams in the first Playoff rankings ·

Not everyone agreed with the first installment of the College Football Playoff rankings, and it looks like you can count ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) with the rest of us in this scenario.

The FPI metric picked three teams that it found the most overrated, and no Texas A&M at No. 4 was not one of those teams. The three teams, in order of Playoff ranking: No. 10 Nebraska (No. 28 in FPI), No. 11 Florida (No. 20 in FPI), and No. 16 Utah (No. 35 in FPI).

ESPN notes that Utah at 35th in FPI is the lowest ranked team to make it into the College Football Playoff committee's Top 25.

It seems that people are still high on Nebraska, even after their lone loss on the season came last week to Wisconsin. The biggest knock on the Cornhuskers is their schedule has been terrible up to this point, as their best win might legitimately be a 52-17 victory over a 6-2 Wyoming team.

Of course, we will find out rather quickly if Nebraska is worth that No. 10 Playoff ranking or not; they play Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday.

Florida is another team that can prove its own worth soon enough. They have Arkansas, LSU, and Florida State left on their schedule, and likely another game against the SEC West champion in the SEC title game.

This will all sort itself out soon enough, and it's crazy to think how different these rankings will be a month from now when the committee actually makes their Playoff selections.
