Devonta Jason is a five-star receiver in the class of 2018 as ranked by Rivals and he made an insanely surprising commitment despite offers from LSU and Alabama among other powerhouses. He spurned those guys so he could commit to Kansas. It remains to be seen if he knows they're a basketball school rather than a football one though, but he seems to be pretty confident in his choice.
Jason talked to Bleacher Report about his decision and he's just decided he's going to do him and not worry about what anyone else thinks.
"People were asking me if they [Kansas] gave me something," Jason says of his decision. "Everybody was going crazy. They wanted to know what I was thinking. I'm just going to be me."
There's always the chance that Kansas loses the young man before next February —- when National Signing Day occurs —- but for now they've got one of the biggest coups going in the country. Rivals has him ranked as the No. 4 receiver in the country and No. 22 recruit overall. He also holds offers from Notre Dame, TCU, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Georgia as well as many others.
Here's some of his highlights:
