Tennessee has not had a lot of luck in the past couple weeks as they've lost a starting offensive lineman to suspension and now starting linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. will reportedly miss the entire season after undergoing meniscus surgery to repair it. VolQuest is reporting that the injury is season-ending after Kirkland underwent surgery on Wednesday.
Kirkland was injured last week on a non-contact play and now the recovery time has gone from several weeks to several months. Had Kirkland only had that part of the meniscus removed that was torn the recovery time would have been shorter, but it seems he is taking the long-term healthy approach and had it repaired so that he can hopefully have a long football career.
Kirkland was also injured last year and he only played in eight games on the season. He recorded 45 total tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack. His likely replacement is Colton Jumper who got some time last year as his replacement as well.
