Each year, it seems like college football's Big Game grows in stature and over-the-top shenanigans.

Next year will be no different, as it has been confirmed that the College Football Playoff, which is going to be in Atlanta in 2018, will not only feature the traditional marching band halftime performances, but also a musical guest who will perform nearby at Centennial Olympic Park.

Via SI:

"ESPN and the College Football Playoff say that a musical guest will perform at halftime of this season's title game in Atlanta on Jan. 8, 2018, and the performance will be aired on ESPN. The halftime concert will be held in Centennial Olympic Park, near the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. An artist has not yet been booked, but ESPN is taking the lead on securing what it hopes will be an A-list performer with broad appeal."

It hasn't yet been revealed who will be performing at the event — we are still several months away from the event — but with the location and event going on it figures to be a major name.

It is interesting to note that they're still keeping the marching band performances for the crowd that's actually at the game, but for those outside the stadium they can enjoy a very different halftime performance right down the street at the park.
