Former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder spent the 2017 season with Oklahoma State as a defensive analyst and was with Georgia the season before that in the same position. However, it looks like now he will be taking over for a recently retired Peter Sirmon at Louisville.

VanGorder has been in the coaching game since 1981 and some of his stops include UCF, Grand Valley State, Wayne State (as a head coach), Central Michigan, Western Illinois, Georgia Southern (as a head coach), Auburn, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Jets.
The 58-year old VanGorder was the defensive coordinator for Notre Dame in 2016 for four games before being relieved of his duties, which is when he joined the Bulldogs as an analyst. And now it looks like he will get another shot as a defensive coordinator with the Cardinals.
