Booger McFarland has been pretty outspoken this week during SEC Media Days when he predicted that Tennessee would be "abysmal" this season. He took it to another level by going after one player in particular on Florida's team. Presumed starter Malik Zaire was the target of McFarland's ire as he took a shot at him on Tuesday.

McFarland got on the topic of Florida and its quarterback issues when he was on a Nashville-based radio program called 102.5 The Game.
"Florida doesn't know who their quarterback is going to be."
"Don't tell me Malik Zaire. He couldn't cut it at Notre Dame. You don't just let good quarterbacks walk out the door. He's serviceable, but he's not a good quarterback."
He might not think Zaire is a very good QB, but he was certainly a desirable one as several teams were chasing after him this spring. Along with Florida, Texas and Wisconsin were rumored to be in contention to land him.
It is troubling that he only had 98 snaps with the Fighting Irish though as injuries derailed most of his career and his addition to the team brings up some questions: Does Jim McElwain not trust Feleipe Franks to run the offense after a redshirt year? Are the Gators looking for a temporary fix at the position? And is bringing in Zaire an admission by the staff that they didn't do enough to prepare Franks well enough for this season?
