Baylor, still reeling from a sex assault scandal, finally does something right and it's about time

Baylor released a statement late on Thursday, announcing that they had agreed to release five class of 2016 recruits from their signed Letters of Intent.

From the release:

"I wanted the opportunity to talk with our signees and their families before providing any releases," said Baylor Acting Head Football Coach Jim Grobe. "This has never been about whether or not we would ultimately provide individuals with a release; we simply asked that we go through the process outlined by the NLI, take some time and have the chance to speak with the student-athletes and their parents. I've enjoyed those opportunities to meet with these families and wish each individual success in all that they do in life.

Those recruits, according to ESPN: four-star offensive guard Patrick Hudson, four-star offensive tackle J.P. Urquidez, four-star cornerback Parrish Cobb, four-star athlete Kameron Martin, and three-star athlete Donovan Duvernay.

Yes, that four four-star recruits on top of all the decommits from the past month.

All of these releases come on the heels of the sexual assault scandal at the school, which spurred the firing of then head coach Art Briles. Ever since the firing, recruits have been leaving left and right, and it looks like these guys finally got their out.

This being Baylor, of course there had to be some controversy. Rivals writer Mark Passwaters is currently reporting that the now former Baylor signees had no idea that Baylor was actually going to grant them the release until Baylor made the statement online.

@YahooDrSaturday we've already talked to two of them. They had no idea.
