WWE changed Apollo Crews name to just Apollo after the horrific school shooting in Parkland, Florida, due to the gunman's name being Nikolas Cruz, per the Wrestling Observer.
WWE has yet to confirm the reasoning and apparently denied confirming why they made the decision:
Apparently this is the reason why Apollo Crews is now "Apollo".

WWE PR is claiming they didn't send out any email saying this, so I'm confused. https://t.co/7ambaWxArx

Still interested in the supposed reasoning behind Apollo Crews' name change. The Sportskeeda reporter who claims it was because of the recent high school shooter's name told me he got the info from WWE's office in India.
I've followed up with WWE for an official comment.

Apollo and his tag team partner, Titus O'Neil, earned a win over the tag team champions, The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro) during Monday Night Raw. They're expected to battle for the Raw Tag Team titles at this weekend's Elimination Chamber premiere event.
