After an offseason in which many seemingly less qualified running backs signed with NFL teams and Marshawn Lynch emerged from retirement to ink a (very) lucrative contract with the Oakland Raiders, Jamaal Charles is still without gainful employment. The former Kansas City Chiefs standout and four-time Pro Bowler remains on the free agent market but, on Tuesday, Charles will reportedly visit with an interesting suitor.

Free Agent running back Jamaal Charles to visit Broncos Tuesday, per @AdamSchefter

— 247Sports (@247Sports) May 1, 2017

Adam Schefter of ESPN brings word that Charles will spend Tuesday in Denver and this could make a great deal of sense. It is, unquestionably, a little bit weird that Charles could end up with a long-time division rival, but the Broncos are not exactly loaded with overwhelming talent at running back.

At this point, Denver does have both C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker, but Charles could present an intriguing third down option on a team with aspirations to be competitive in 2017. Just how interested in his services the Broncos are remains to be seen, but Charles still could have quite a bit left in the tank if fully healthy and the 30-year-old has tormented Denver throughout his NFL career.

This may not end up being a marriage but it is certainly an intriguing possibility to consider.
